Not Every Bid Results in a Win

Not every bid results in a win, but every bid should result in a lesson.

This past week, North Point Construction Services submitted a proposal for a culvert replacement project. While we weren't the successful bidder, we took the opportunity to thoroughly review our estimate, supplier pricing, and project assumptions, post bid.

One of the key takeaways from that review was a reminder that the biggest cost item on a project isn't always the factor that determines the outcome. Understanding risk, production, logistics, and scope interpretation can often have a greater impact than material pricing alone.

The bidding process is more than just winning work—it's an opportunity to continuously improve, refine our approach, and better understand the markets we serve.

Every estimate helps us become a stronger contractor, a better partner to our clients, and more prepared for the next opportunity.

Congratulations to the successful contractor, and thank you to our estimating and operations teams for the effort and professionalism that go into every proposal we submit.
