In construction, we often talk about leaders. But we don't talk enough about lost leaders.

They're the foremen who stopped mentoring because they got buried in paperwork. The project managers who became so consumed by schedules and budgets that they no longer develop their teams. The superintendents who were once passionate about building people, but now spend every day putting out fires.

The construction industry doesn't just have a labor shortage.

It has a leadership shortage. Not because capable leaders don't exist—but because too many have been pulled away from what made them great in the first place.

The companies that will win the next decade won't simply recruit better talent. They'll create environments where experienced leaders have the time and support to coach, teach, and pass along what can't be learned in a classroom.

Projects come and go..... Buildings get completed..... But the greatest legacy a construction leader leaves isn't a structure. It's the people who become better because they worked alongside them.
